2009 NLCCBC Ride Wrapup:

Here's where we rode, what we did, who went, what we saw:

In March, the New England Rat Rodders took over the Monson Swap Meet.

Then a tour of Scotts Cycle in Willimantic, a side trip to pick up another old Schwinn at an antique
store in Stafford Springs, and a ride over the Frog Bridge.

Sunday May 3rd: New London Kickoff
-- Freds Shanty, Ocean Beach, Pequot Avenue. We got a little wet as I recall!

Sunday June 7th: Cruiser Ride!
-- Our group met at the Bean & Leaf Coffee shop on Washington St.
We rode up the BIG hill from downtown, through Huntington St. and Williams St., and up to the Conn College Arboretum

Sunday June 28th, we rode the Air Line Trail! This is an old railroad line that winds through Eastern Connecticut.
We rode from Colchester at Rt.149/Exit 16, west towards East Hampton. This route takes us
over several wooden bridges, over the large "viaducts" high above the forests and valleys, through narrow rock cuts.
It's hard to imagine the vast amount of human labor that went into building this route in the early 1870's.

After the ride we visited the shop of one of our members down the road in Colchester. He builds custom rat bicycles and motorcycles. Sweet!

Sunday July 5th our group met at Mr. G's on Williams St. for a trip over the Gold Star Bridge.
We stopped at the Submarine Vet's memorial, and went under the bridge to the boat launch.
Nice day and met some new folks who haven't been on a ride with us.

On July 6th we rode to the Ocean Beach Classic Car Show:

Bike Valet at Sailfest, July 11:

We rode to the Sailfest Fireworks. A bike can get you to a location where the view is completely open, like this:

Riding after the rainstorm in the suddenly cleared out city:

Helping Bike New London install new bike rack at Union Station, Water St., New London:

Sunday July 26th: Bike Workshop

Terra Cyclery, 154 Williams St., New London put on a bicycle technical workshop for our club members and guests!

Saturday August 1st: BIKE FEST NEW LONDON!

-- Held in the Downtown Waterfront Park, NLCCBC brought a ton of cool old bikes to the 1st Annual Bike Fest NL!
We rode everything from tall bikes to lowrider choppers!

Sunday August 2nd: RAT ROD RIDE!

We rode from the Waterfront Park, through downtown NL and wound up at the Bean & Leaf.

Pete's awesome swing bike was the crazy hit of the day. CJ was not killed or injured by it. This time.

Sunday August 23rd: we visited the New England Musclebike Museum up in Bloomfield, CT!
Enjoyed the swap meet (only sold a road bike), met lots of the good bike folks we see every year,
listened to music, found tons of little "project" parts, toured the Museum. And for some reason it didn't rain!

Riding on Block Island:

Night riding in Guilford with the Broken Spoke folks!

Sunday September 20th: THE TWENTY INCH RIDE! 2:00 PM

-- Fort Trumbull, Capt. Scott's Lobster Dock, all 20" bikes! A perfect day, perfect weather, awesome rides.
We had a 20" Tiger bike, 2 Lil Chiks, Stingrays, choppers, street bikes and kool kustoms.

Gary rolled in from Cheshire with his chopper gang. The OCC's looked good rolling through the Fort.

Pete got out a different custom creation for this one.

Sunday September 27th: Road Bike Ride
Oops, this ride got cancelled. Can't win them all!

Hit the Dudley, Mass swap meet in November:
